About the workshop
This Technical Leadership Masterclass will equip aspiring or current Technical Leaders will a set of tools to lead technical teams. Together with an experienced CTO and technical leader of almost 25 years, you will explore what an effective technical leader is and how to act like one through discussion, theory and practical exercises in an interactive workshop.
After the workshop, you will understand:
- Identify common challenges of leading technical teams and how to overcome them
- The difference between Maker and Multiplier mindset and which is essential for effective Technical Leaders
- A set of tests to know if you’re being an effective Technical Leader
- A framework to articulate your technical vision
- Identify individual team members’ strengths and where they are useful
- Be able to better manage and prioritise their time
- Better understand how to support and delegate to team members

About the host
Patrick Kua is a seasoned technology leader with almost 25 years of experience. His current mission is accelerating the growth of technical leaders through coaching, mentoring and training. He has had many years of hands-on experience, leading, managing and improving complex organisations and software systems as the CTO and Chief Scientist of N26 (Berlin, Germany) and as a Technical Principal Consultant at ThoughtWorks. He is a keynote and conference speaker, author of three books including The Retrospective Handbook, Talking with Tech Leads and Building Evolutionary Architectures and runs the free popular newsletter for leaders in tech, “Level Up” (http://levelup.patkua.com), the podcast “Managing Managers” (http://managingmanagers.tech) and the Tech Lead Academy, offering in-person and online training for technical leaders. He has personally trained thousands of technical leaders and engineering managers from over a hundred companies.
